SERVICOM UNIT

The Servicom Unit in NABDA is one of the units under the Director General’s office. It was established in line with the directives of the Federal Executive council in 2005. The unit is headed by a nodal officer who is a Deputy Director in the Agency. He is assisted by three desk officers;

  1. Charter formulation, Implementation and Review Desk Officer.
  2. Customer Relations / Grievance Redress Desk Officer.
  3. Service Improvement Desk Officer.

The unit is charged with the following responsibilities:

  1. Producing and reviewing the service charter for National Bio-technology Development Agency (NABDA).

 

  1. Spear heading the Agency’s service delivery initiative through Servicom compliance.
  2. Formulating and managing the Agency’s customer relations policies.
  3. Instituting a Complaints procedure and Grievances Redress Mechanism for the Agency.
  4. Instituting appropriate market research techniques in identifying customer needs and expectations from the services provided by the Agency.
  5. Organising comprehensive and effective training programmes for staff of the agency from time to time on effective service delivery.
  6. Serving as a link between the Agency and the Servicom head office.
  7. Facilitating a safe and conducive working environment.

  • Establishment of Germplasm repositories (Gene Banks) in partnership with National Centre for Genetic Research and Biotechnology (NACGRAB).

 

  • Capacity Building:
    • Training and continuous education of Scientists in bioresources management.

 

    • Training in skills and

abilities in Genomics,

DNA Technology and 
Bioresources management.

  • Training in Database

  • Assisting the Scientists/Researchers/Technologists in translating R & D results into a commercialisable goods and services.

 

  • Development and provision of locally fabricated/adapted specialised equipment for biotech R &D.

  • Creating bridges between the laboratory and market places for adoption of biotechnology R & D products and feed back mechanism for the improvement of quality and variety of Biotechnology-based industrial products.

 

  • Offering consultancy services on investments, selection of process technologies, sourcing of funds.
  • Assisting in the set up of biotechnology small and medium enterprises.

  • Providing elite planting materials and livestock for increased productivity.

 

  • Training of Agricultural Technical Officers, farmers and Agricultural Extension Assistants for requisite skills.

  • Identification of the active ingredients and determination of effective formulations.
  • Improvement of the quality of packaging and presentation in collaboration with relevant Agencies.

 

  • Securing of Intellectual Property Rights in collaboration with relevant Agencies.
  • Use of R&D to forge closer relationships between Orthodox and the Traditional Medicine Practitioners (TMPs).

 

  • Provision of improved biotech-based diagnostics, therapeutics and preventives as tools for efficient and cost effective medical practice.

 

  • Development of new Pharmaceutical drugs (drugs and vaccines) through bioinformatics, bioresources and traditional medicine practice.

 

  • Provision of novel biologically active chemical substances from indigenous natural resources.

Our mandated services which are funded by the Government are offered at no cost to our clients. However, token fees are charged for consultancy and other services that do not receive funding from the Government.
